8-Week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) Course - April 2025 Cohort (In-person) - SkillsFuture Course


Orientation: April 14, From 7.30pm to 8.45pm  [Zoom-Online]

Dates/Times: Apr  21, 28 | May 5, 13*, 19, 26 | Jun 2, 9. From 7.00pm to 10.00pm

Day of Retreat: May 24 2025 (Saturday). From 9.30am to 1.30pm

* Held on Tuesday 13 May in replacement of Vesak public holiday

Venue: Singapore Management University (SMU) Campus​

Fees: SGD 695. Course fee includes instructions by two instructors, the official MSC coursebook, and all guided audio home practice files and handouts. This course is organized by SMU, and approved for claim under the WDA SkillsFuture Credit subsidy scheme subject to all eligibility criteria being met. * A minimum number of participants is required to start the course. To ascertain participants' readiness and suitability, applicants will be required to complete a pre-course questionnaire. There may be a one-to-one intake call to be arranged by the instructor(s). Attendance to the Orientation Session is mandatory for all applicants to ascertain if the course fits their needs before their application process is completed.

The 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) course is an empirically-supported course designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion and teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care, and understanding. The three key components of self-compassion are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness. Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when needed, relate wholeheartedly to others, and be more authentically ourselves.

ABOUT THE TRAINERS

Carmen Teo

Carmen Teo, EdD, is the founder of Transform Heartminds, a Certified MBSR Teacher and MBSR Teacher Mentor with UC San Diego’s Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute (MBPTI), and Certified MSC Teacher with the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC). She is the only fully Certified MSC Teacher in Singapore. She has taught mindfulness and compassion to a variety of populations, including corporate executives, seniors, students and school teachers. She started her mindfulness and compassion practice in 2007 and has a regular practice, including attending annual silent meditation retreats for more than a decade. Khai Imm Sng

Khai Imm is a Clinical Psychologist with her private practice at Hope for Tomorrow Psychology Center. She is also an MBCT teacher.
